Recorded rugby was played firstly at Coedgwilym in 1896,but details are sparse, the club moved to Gwrach y Llwynau field and played rugby at this location from 1897 to 1914, which is now a housing site. After the first world war they moved to Cae Duke field at The Green, Trebanos, this was to the south of the existing pitch. In 1946 the Rhyndwyclydach Parish Council leased ’The Park’ to Trebanos RFC for the sole use of rugby union, where they still play.

Early meetings were held at the rear of ‘Shop Walters–y–Crydd’ under the chairmanship of Lewis Ford Snr, other administrators, were Thomas Henry Jones and Dai Gibbs. The latter deserves high praise, since he was one of the few responsible in restoring the club’s fortunes after two World Wars. He literally went around the village ‘begging’ for clothing coupons to kit out the team. During his time as a committeeman his famous saying to the chairman was always ‘Workers we want, not shirkers’ and for his services to Trebanos, he was made a Life-Member.
