A brief insight in to the Swansea and District RFC history from over 100 Years ago.
The 1913/14 season.
Entrance fees to the district were: ten shillings for first division, 3 shillings and six pence for the 2cd and 3rd divisions and two
shillings and six pence for the 4th division which gave a grand total of £6/7/6
Cup fees were five shillings for division one and three shillings and sixpence for the other divisions making a grand total of
£6/10/6
Players transferring to different duds payed Six pence and 20 players moved clubs in that season, the district collecting eight
shillings and nine pence along the way.
When Swansea and District played Llanelli and District at Landore, they recorded a deficit of 10/6, The expenditue Total for the District being:
Train fares for players £ 1/1/4 - 107 pence
Taxis to Landore - 5/- 25 pence
Washing Jerseys - 2/- 10 Pence
Referee Train Fare 2/6 13 pence
Gratuity - 1/- 5 pence
total £1/11/10
Swansea RFC donated grants to all clubs in Swansea and District leagues in 1913/14 season, the 1st Division teams recieved £2/3/6, 2cd Division sides £1/1/6, 3rd Division sides 12/6 and 4th Division sides 7/6.
Sir J T D Llewelyn was a benefactor to the district and made a £1/0/0 donation every season, plus a grant to certain teams, in 1913/14 season he gave £4/0/0 grant to the following teams:
Mynydd Bach 12/6 Pontardulais 7/6
