Tributes paid to former player Ken Williams

Ken

RIP Ken Williams.

Thoughts are with Ken’s family and close friends. A true gent in every aspect.

His dedication and love for powerlifting can never be matched. What he give to the sport to help develop it, especially in the local area, was  astonishing. Ken was not just a coach but competed in various powerlifting events and was British champion on several occasions.

Ken helped develop many of Trebanos’ players over the years and this gained Ken many friends and admirers within the community.

Ken was also an ex player of the club and was a very active committee member for many years.

In his role on the committee, Ken would spend hours cleaning the changing rooms after training and match days however, Ken would get very frustrated with the players who left items of kit/clothing behind on a weekly basis! Ken turned up at one committee meeting with a rather bemused look on his face and said to the committee, ‘one of the players left a pair of shoes behind on Saturday……….I trying to work out how he got home’! To which, everyone burst out laughing. That was Ken’s typical sense of humour.

Ken was genuine, humble, and a very nice bloke who will always be remembered as one of us. #banosfamily
